One of These Nights

Woo-hoo! Finally finished. The central canvas is 24"x30" (painted in acrylic), and the two side panels are pieces of foam core board, also painted in acrylic, mounted over the canvas. Initially I was going to "ink" the side panels with marker, but it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Free advice: foam core board and Sharpee markers do not mix!

This is the first in a series I'm working on this semester; after my "Sin City Citizen" painting was stolen [link] , I wanted to revisit the Frank Miller style. The inspiration here is the song "One of These Nights" by the Eagles (hence the dialogue on the left and right), particularly this passage:

"I've been searching for the daughter of the Devil himself
I've been searching for an angel in white
I've been waiting for a woman who's a little of both
And I can feel her but she's nowhere in sight"

There's a bit of digital cleanup here; I wanted the best possible web presentation, so I took individual shots of the central canvas and the side panels, then Photoshopped them together and added the wall in the background, just for a sense of environment. So this is pretty damn close to what it actually looks like in real life (including the dirty studio wall). The "angel" side of the central figure (the "Witchy Woman", if you will) was painted in silver, but alas, some details just don't translate.
