C'mon, you know they'll get around to making another "1984" movie eventually. Till the day comes, enjoy some fan-made rubbish.
Basically I'm trying to communicate the cold, isolated feel of the novel's world (and I'll admit to taking a few cues from that international poster for The Dark Knight that came out in December), meanwhile including as many recognizable items from the book as possible. Of course there's the Big Brother poster and the Ministry of Truth pyramid off in the background. The eagle-eyed among you will likely notice the bottle of Victory Gin and a pack of Victory Cigarettes on the floor next to Winston's diary.
I've named David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en, Panic Room, Zodiac) as director, mostly because I think he excels at bringing to the screen a sense of gloom - something "1984" has coming out the ears - and because he'd easily replicate the decrepit atmosphere of the Outer Party's living/working conditions. Winston Smith is played by Paul Bettany - who ought to be the first and only choice for the part, as far as I'm concerned. The face of Big Brother on the poster outside the window is that of Powers Boothe - 'cause you know you'd be watching your ass if that BMF had his eyes on it.
There is no word to describe this artwork other than...............Bravo. You have an incredible sense of cinematic mastery and story and have made the perfect choices for this film.
